Message from Suzi Voyles
Chairman Georgia Coalition, Women for McCain

With the 2008 election less than 100 days away, the excitement is mounting.  Rarely in the history of our country, has the choice been so clearly definitive.   From the beginning, the Republican Party has led the way on the issues: abolishing slavery, free speech, Woman’s suffrage, the first Blacks in Congress (1869), the first Woman in Congress (1917).  In today’s stereotypes, none of these sound like a typical Republican issue, yet they are stances the Republican Party, in opposition to the Democratic Party, adopted early on. The Party has always thrived on challenges and difficult positions.

John McCain is no different.  He is emphasizing individual freedom, personal responsibility and reduced government.  He believes that the money that you earn is yours and that government has the right to take only as much as is needed to perform its limited functions. McCain knows that high taxes, runaway government spending and over-regulation of business and farming punish initiative and stifle economic growth.

John McCain believes that the preservation of our rights and freedoms must be entrusted to a strong national defense and in the ability of the United States of America to be able to negotiate with other nations from a position of strength.

John McCain believes that America is a “can-do” nation of the best and the brightest minds who can solve the energy crisis before us.  He believes that we must once again regain our energy independence in order that our economy is never again held hostage by those who control our energy supplies.  We must expand and diversify our types of energy to meet the needs of the future.

Thomas Jefferson said that, “the price of liberty is eternal vigilance”.  John McCain’s positions are based upon sound reasoning in order to better guard these freedoms for which so many have sacrificed and protected throughout our history.

This is an exciting time to be a Republican Woman!  We must be ever watchful to the threats, regardless of how subtle or well intentioned, that will erode our national identity and extinguish the lamp of liberty.   We must strengthen our individual votes by standing together with others of like minds who love this country.

Join us in our grassroots coalition here in Georgia, Women for McCain, and help propel John McCain to the victory this country deserves.
