McCain Fan(s) of the Week

Georgia Republican Women have started a huge grassroots movement to
get all women-Republicans, Democrats, Libertarians, and Independents-involved in helping to elect the best candidate for President in 2008. John McCain is a true American hero who loves this country-unlike his opponent! Most women
think this. Georgia has just launched a state
website. Suzi Voyles and Bettye Chambers who serve on NFRW Committees are actively involved in this movement in Georgia. Suzi
is the State Chairman of the Georgia Women for McCain Coalition and Bettye is the Communications Director and Webmaster.

Millie Rogers, President of Georgia Federation of Republican Women, serves as a member of the steering committee.

Each week NFRW will profile a "McCain Fan(s) of The Week!"  To be considered send a picture (JPEG) to political@nfrw.org and a sentence describing what
you are doing to help elect John McCain.
"I am a Republican" Video
Available Online

The NFRW's "I am a Republican!" video is a public relations tool featuring a diverse group of more than 45 Federation members and Republican women leaders such as Lynne Cheney, U.S. Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison and former EPA Administrator Christie Todd Whitman.

The final product is a three-minute, upbeat video anchored at the beginning and end with information about the NFRW and its mission. In the core of the video, participants explain the commonly-held beliefs of Republicans and pledge ,with enthusiastic voices, their allegiance to the GOP.

The NFRW is encouraging states and local clubs to download the video and use it in their voter education, community outreach and membership development activities.

From Our State Federations
Bobbie Lou Leigh, Alabama

AFRW is most grateful to learn about programs initiated by other clubs and we would like to share an educational project of ours on illegal immigration.

Purpose: To inform voters about the connection between taxes and illegal immigration.

Problem: The billions of dollars spent on free public services to illegal households contribute significantly to the crises in education, entitlement programs, healthcare and federal, state and local deficits.

More illegal alien households receive U.S. welfare than citizen households.  When taxpayers subsidize illegal-alien households, valuable resources are taken from needy U.S. citizen households and costs for services increase.  This translates into higher taxes.

Projects:
(1) NFRW Resolution on Border Security First in 2006:  This passed unanimously and was blast-faxed to Congressional members, who then passed the National Border Security Bill.

(2) A Birthright Citizenship Petition for voters to request U.S. Congressmen to support bill H.R. 1940 (introduced in April 2007) which would ban birthright citizenship to non-citizens:  All five Alabama Republican Congressmen are now co-sponsors.

(3) A voter's guide on illegal immigration & open borders: This summarizes costs and problems of illegal immigration and proposes solutions.  We continue to get requests for more copies.

(4) To help Republican U.S. Congressmen to save E-Verify.   E-Verify is scheduled to expire on November 1, 2008.  President Bush recently issued an executive order mandating that all federal contractors use E-Verify.  The U.S. House of Representatives voted in late July 2008 to extend E-Verify for five more years; the bill now goes to the Senate.  We urge any interested voter, in any state, to contact their U.S. Senators and ask them to extend E-Verify.  Expiration of E-Verify would encourage more illegal immigration and taxpayer-subsidies of illegal-alien households would continue to rise.

More information on these projects can be obtained by
e-mailing AFRW's chair of illegal immigration issues at eloisz@hotmail.com.
